Tragic News of Hutton Player

We regret to have to advise you all of the death of a young Hutton player, Jenny Kerwood, who sadly passed away last night.  A statement from Hutton reads as follows:

It is my sad duty to inform you that suddenly and tragically Jenny Kerwood one of our Ladies players died last night after collapsing at training. Jenny collapsed on the pitch during training and it was clear to our Hutton Managers and Coaches who were present that something was seriously wrong and an ambulance was called for.

Unfortunately and despite the huge effort and dedication shown by our own Hutton volunteers and the team of Paramedics, Jenny could not be revived and passed away a short time later at Queens Hospital.

Therefore, Hutton Reserves match against Grays Athletic has been postponed this Sunday as have all of their matches this weekend and the League Committee would ask that a minutes silence be observed at all other matches as a mark of respect.

I'm sure you will join us in sending our sincere condolences to Jenny's family and all at Hutton LFC at this sad and difficult time.

After Match Refreshments

It was brought to the Committee's attention of a number of occasions this season where visiting teams are disappearing straight after the game and not staying for the after match refreshments provided by the home club. This is even after being told refreshments will be available prior to the day. It is extremely rude to leave without staying, even for a few minutes and is a waste of people's time. If you do not intend staying after a game, please ensure you tell the home club prior to the day.

Dawn Crowned BBC East Unsung Hero

Dawn Barnard, was announced as the ‘BBC East Sports Personality Unsung Hero’ winner at the awards evening held at Bedford University last night (Thursday 8th December). This means Dawn will now be representing the Region at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards evening to be held in Manchester on December 22nd. She will be in the limelight with famous sports celebrities at the BBC showpiece event to be shown live on BBC.

Dawn was originally nominated by Ian Bent of the Essex County FA for the Chelmsford Borough Council’s Active Chelmsford Sports Award where she was successful and went onto win the Essex Sports Award in November. This was in recognition for the 25 years hard work which includes forming the Chelmsford City Ladies & Girls Football Club and helping to establish the Essex County Girls’ League, in addition she badgered the ECFA to form the Essex County Women’s League which she is now Secretary of. Her unstinting development of the female game within Essex has seen a meteoric rise in the number of players and teams involved in the game today.
